Members have just returned from a 5 day holiday in the Lake District where we enjoyed marvellous weather and scenery. We stayed at the Cumbria Grand Hotel in Grange over Sands. On Tuesday, after a tour around, we spent the rest of the day in Kendal where there are plenty of shops and a Norman castle to explore. On Wednesday we visited the lovely villages of Bowness, Hawkshead and Lakeside from where we took a cruise on Lake Windermere. On Thursday our tour took us to Grasmere where the poet William Wordsworth lived. We then continued on to Keswick where we were given time to explore and have lunch. In the afternoon we headed for the shores of Ullswater which must be one of the most beautiful lakes. We then ascended Kirkstone Pass with its breathtaking lake and mountain views - an unforgettable day. Reluctantly on Friday we had to start the journey home. We had a good stop at Lancaster to break up the journey and arrived back in Moreton at 6 o'clock.
