A HUGE effort by volunteers on 22 October transformed a former “grot spot” in the village. A long list of jobs included shovelling 15 tons of top soil , planting up the new seating area, a large, raised circular bed and a bulb border, lifting tree canopies , erecting owl boxes and planting the first of the Rotary Club crocus bulbs. But what a difference it has made to this part of the village, which will soon be housing a refurbished telephone kiosk. With so many bulbs planted there should be a spectacular display in the Spring.

Pebworth is still absorbing the news that it will be representing the Heart of England region at the UK finals next year and everyone was delighted to read on the RHS mark sheet that we received 100 per cent for the year-round community events. Some of these have become well- supported annual events like the Wellie Walk. We were very lucky with the weather this year – a perfect autumnal Sunday morning stroll into Browns Wood on September 25. Everyone enjoyed the scavenger hunt on the way, and the bacon butties even more !
