THIRTY members, including one new member, came to Bishampton Village Hall on Wednesday, February 15 for the first Pershore Flower Club demonstration in 2017. We were very pleased to welcome hairdresser Yvonne Berry from Bromyard whose demonstration was titled “Reclamation”.

Yvonne’s husband is a builder so she has a source of old material to use as her mechanics. She started with a chimney pot on top of which she created the smoke on rainy days which flows in different directions using drooping foliage and large lilac chrysanthemums. Next was the roof, ie. two old pieces of Welsh slate standing upright, in between which her arrangement was magnificent. The rain from the roof goes into a hopper and then the downpipe. She used fatsia leaves and lime-coloured skimmia leaves with pale blue delphiniums representing the water. She decorated a section of an oak windowframe from her own home with yellow lilies and roses illustrating the sunshine outside and then peach roses and a beautiful dark alstroemeria the inside. A terracotta sewer pipe (unused!) was used for a vertical arrangement using phormium and very large fatsia leaves with peach carnations which matched the colour of the sewer pipe. The horizontal arrangement featured a terracotta “bend pipe” with pussywillow, pink gerberas and lilies.

Yvonne demonstrated her talent with beautiful arrangements which winning raffle ticket holders were delighted to take home. Members are invited to bring a guest for “free” at our next meeting to be held at Bishampton Village Hall on Wednesday, March 15 when Lorena Dyer from Coventry will demonstrate “A Moment in Time”. Our competition called “Spring” will be held on that evening and we look forward to welcoming many guests. Enquiries to Sheanagh Hickson on 01386 561210.
