It’s Magic
On 21 February Bob King, a member of the Magic Circle and of the British Magical Society, gave a packed Pershore U3A meeting a very entertaining and informative talk about the World of Magic.
Bob began by taking his audience back to the tricks performed by magicians in ancient Egypt, then through the Middle Ages to the modern day including anecdotes about Houdini, David Copperfield, Tommy Cooper and David Blaine.
The highlight of the afternoon was Bob’s magic cabaret as he performed tricks with the participation of some members of his audience. These included the three ropes trick, a card trick in which he ‘read the mind’ of his helpers, linking and unlinking metal rings by blowing on them and, perhaps most impressive of all, pouring a glass of water into a copy of the Sunday Telegraph without wetting the paper and then pouring a glass of red wine out of the newspaper!
Bob clearly demonstrated his magic touch and a very appreciative audience were left in no doubt as to his abilities.
