PEOPLETON WI

PRESIDENT Jill Brotheridge, welcomed members and thanked June Sargeant for the lovely flower arrangement which would be raffled later in the evening. She reminded everyone that payment was due for the group visit to Denman College in November and the Worcester Federation event with guest speaker Mary Berry in September.

After the business of the evening, members were given an interesting and entertaining talk by Kathy Hancock about Dogs for the Disabled. Kathy told us how her labrador Gilbert had made such a difference to her life and helped her lead a more independent life despite her disabilities. Gilbert showed how he can retrieve dropped items, open and close doors and even help Kathy get undressed.

He is also loved by the special needs children that Kathy works with, providing comfort and being a calming influence to them when they are disturbed.

Gilbert charmed us all and showed what an amazing, lovable, life-enhancing friend he is.

Peopleton WI does not meet in August. We welcome anyone to come along to our meetings on the second Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm in Peopleton Village Hall.
