BISHAMPTON GARDENING CLUB

AT our last meeting, Stewart Jones, secretary of North Worcestershire Fuchsia Society, gave a very informative talk about fuchsias.

He gave details about the discovery of fuchsias, from the eastern side of the Andes, by a Frenchman who named them after a botanist from a previous century. So the namesake of fuchsias never got to see them. Stewart explained that because of their natural location, fuchsias prefer dappled shade and not be stood in water.

Stewart then gave a demonstration on taking cuttings. He also explained about the different species of fuchsias and the control of of the bugs and diseases that attack the plant.

Very generously, Stewart brought along a number of free information sheets and a selection of healthy plants to buy. A very enjoyable evening.
