THIS months talk to Evesham & District U3A was "Royal Enfield - A Chapter of Accidents"
The speaker, Anne Bradford talked us through the history of Royal Enfield from their start making needles right through to the manufacture of motor cars. The company was started by George Townsend in 1830, and at that time employed 16 men and 2 boys.
Along the way we learned of the development of the bicycle and the motorbike, and were told of the characters of the Directors of the company over the years.
Some of the original Royal Enfield buildings still stand in Redditch.
Next months talk is "Worcester's Lost Theatre. We shall meet again on Wednesday May 4 at 2pm.
These talks are free to members of the U3A but guests and visitors are always welcome at a suggested donation of £2 which includes refreshments.
