JUST like the previous month, we had a lovely dry, warm evening for our July meeting (they have been few and far between, so we tend to remember them). It was just the sort of weather to tempt us into the garden, so it was appropriate that our speaker was Andy Pedrick, who came along to give us ideas on what to plant to keep colour in our gardens throughout the summer and into autumn, whilst helping to provide food for bees into the bargain. His entertaining and humourous talk was a mixture of useful advice on gardening issues, including propagation and how to deter the dreaded slugs and snails, and answering members' questions. Andy had also brought along a selection of plants for us to buy, ensuring that we had something to keep us occupied over the weekend.

Andy judged the competition for something beginning with 'K'. It can't be an easy job when there are so many imaginative entries, but the worthy winner this month was Ivy Pullin, who had brought along a beautiful Kimono.

Last month's friendly skittles match had been good fun, and Jean Wright was the top scorer of the evening. Forthcoming events to look forward to are our Strawberry Tea at Hampton Farm Shop, the bi-monthly lunch at Toddington WI, and a visit to the Hop Pocket Shopping Village near Bromyard in August.

Our September meeting will be the Harvest Supper, which is always an enjoyable event.

Visitors are always welcome at our meetings, and if you would like more information you can call Joyce Davey on Evesham 443755.
