RECENTLY I met representatives of the Evesham Area Community First Responders, who are a voluntary organization who respond to medical and trauma emergencies. The volunteers are trained by West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust, with skills to deliver life saving interventions to people who suffer a Cardiac Arrest, Stroke, Respiratory Arrest or any other life saving interventions to patients. Their aim to is to get to such patients within the shortest time frame possible and initiate treatment to optimise the chance of survival and to work along side ambulance crews also supporting family members and bystanders who have witnessed the the event. I shall be paying my respects to the First Responders, and the many volunteers who work within our community at the Mayors Civic Service in on Sunday, February 28 at the Church of All Saints Evesham at 3pm followed by light refreshments in the Town Hall.
Along with Jill Haycock (Evesham Civic Society) John Kyte (Evesham Historical Society) Councillor and Colin Tether I was privileged to pay my respects by unveiling the blue plaque in honor of Evesham's famous son Sir Henry Fowler. The plaque will be a permanent fixture at the old Signal House Evesham railway station. Anyone wishing to learn more about this brilliant engineer should read the the book written by the Evesham Historical Society Chairman John Kyte. There is also a permanent exhibition of Sir Henry his life and work at the Almonary.
My sincere thanks to Glen Lyon who supported the Mayors Charities by organising the recent Burns Supper held at the Evesham United Football Ground - what a fantastic night.
I shall be attending the Lunch Club at Wallace House on Thursday, February 4 at 12noon - which being organised by Working World another active voluntary organization within our community.
On Tuesday the Deputy Mayor, Town Clerk and I are meeting representatives from Swan Lane School Council
in the Council Chamber, who shall take over and show us how Councillors should conduct themselves when in session - I'm confident they will show us how it should be done for the benefit of our community as they say, your never to old to learn from the younger members of of our community.
