AT our recent meeting our speaker was Shaun McCormack who gave us an interesting and amusing talk on his life as a Yeoman Guard. The Yeoman Guards are the oldest permanent guards of the Queen and were originally formed in the fourteen hundreds. He showed us his full uniform which now cost £4000. He also gave a slide show explaining the history of the Guards and passed around copies of the Oath they have to sign and several group photographs taken with the Queen.
Our next meeting will be at 2.00 for 2.30 pm on March 9 at the Congregational Church, Moreton when the title of our talk will be "Letters from a Submariner". On March 16 we visit Matlock Baths on a day trip.
