FORTUNATELY the sun shone for Pebworth & District WI’s annual litter-pick on Saturday, March 4. Over 40 residents including children and dogs, took to the highways and byways of Pebworth, collecting other people’s rubbish. Sacks and sacks of discarded cans, bottles and fast-food wrappers were picked up from verges and ditches. Most of the rubbish seems to have been thrown from vehicles as the village itself is almost litter-free thanks to the regular work of the Pebworth in Bloom Litter Leads.

At our monthly meeting, the warm days of summer seemed nearer when the ladies from Linda Rose Lingerie, Alcester brought this year’s swimwear collection to Pebworth . The fashion show featured the most fabulous array of lingerie in beautiful colours , modelled with style by Helen, while owner Linda and her assistant Julie described the materials used and the importance of properly fitted lingerie. We all enjoyed this relaxed and very interesting evening, especially new member Margaret, guests Lyndsey and Sarah, and Wendi the winner of the £25 voucher for Linda-Rose Lingerie. The draw for the bursary to Denman college was won by Jean Sullivan who will enjoy a 2 day course at the WI’s own college. Our skittles team had been in winning action and the bench which the WI has been awarded by Pebworth in Bloom has been sited for weary walkers, near a popular footpath. We are looking forward to welcoming neighbouring WIs to the annual group quiz at the end of March and to the group meeting in April when the highly recommended speaker Ian Caskie is joining us from Bristol to describe the glories of the SS Great Britain.
