OUR final meeting of 2016 was the AGM, when our secretary of many years, Dorothy Turpitt, resigned from the committee and handed over the reins to Barbara Bennett. Two new members, Sheila Taylor and Jane Coles were also welcomed to the committee. Dorothy was thanked for her hard work in ensuring the club's meetings were well planned, and the diverse range of speakers were mainly due to her diligence and efficiency in sourcing them. The AGM was followed by a buffet supper and a quiz.
Our 2017 programme starts with a talk by one of the club's favourite speakers, Adrian James, entitled Three West Country Gardens, and is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25 at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall. We look forward to welcoming all our members from previous years at the same time inviting new ones to the club. We have an exciting range of talks, demonstrations arranged for the coming year plus a Spring Show in March and a summer show in August as well as two garden visits arranged for June and July.
