Now that we are past several completion dates for the Abbey Bridge it has become quite clear the failings of our councillors.

They do not seem to have any control or a clue what is going on in the building of the bridge. They all seem to have loads of degrees and qualifications but none of them have any common sense.

The traffic system? It is quite clear to see that Oat Street traffic flow should be reversed so it goes up Oat Street and into High Street with one old-fashioned traffic control policeman at the junction of High Street. Then, even if the traffic was made to turn left and be directed to go down and round the roundabout at Merstow Green it would direct traffic and strangers to the town to the two car parks at Merstow Green and behind the fire station.

The surplus traffic could then return back into the town centre.

The return flow of traffic out of the town could go down Swan Lane in single file and meet up with the two-way system at the junction of Oat Street.

There need be no traffic lights or the multitude of orange-coated council workers who stand all day looking at the gridlock.
