I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with Cllr Wood (Journal, March 13) regarding the beneficial effects of the proposed housing developments along Pershore's Station Road.

These will bring increased vitality into the town in many different ways.

What I cannot accept is her bland assertion that, in effect, all will be well because of planning!

Evesham residents will greet any claim about planning with derision after the fiasco over the bridge.

The developments in Pershore, when completed, will increase the population of the town by between 15 and 20 per cent and will require multi-agency liaison involving health, education, water/drainage and transport.

All too often in such cases, planning only takes place after rather than before, and in this case it would be nice to see transparent, open-to-view planning over all aspects before parts of the town become blighted.

It is naive to assume that the building of the northern link will solve traffic problems in Station Road.

One only has to be in the road for a short period of time to see large trucks making their way to the business parks having come from the south. Such traffic will never use a northern link.

I, for one, would also dearly wish to see improvements to the Pinvin crossroads before we have to endure the rush of traffic that will flow once building starts. And I am fairly sure I will be disappointed.
