JOHN White, British National Party (May 1), takes aim at a rather soft target in attacking the local church leaders in their opposition to the English Defence League.

Instead of addressing these concerns (that Mr White would be well aware the community has) about the extreme nationalistic and xenophobic right-wing agenda of the EDL and the British National Party, he just "throws a nasty dagger at the heart" of the church.

His next rant is about "Muslims taking over the churches".

English Christians don't use the churches any more, but God forbid that a Muslim congregation might like to worship?

Mr White's comments are fear-mongering and negative. Rather than Mr White expecting the church leaders to solve the economic problems that cause homelessness, housing shortages and so on he could he explain how he thinks the simplistic and regressive social, economic, and foreign policies of the EDL and the BNP will enhance the livelihoods of British people, and the modern-day integrated British economy.
