PERSHORE Heritage Centre is part of Pershore Heritage and History Society, which has been in existence for 20 years.

The first heritage centre was in Bridge Street, in a cottage that was part of the Pershore Town Council offices.

When the post office was sold, the premises was acquired for the town hall and extended, and eventually the heritage centre moved in on the two top floors.

Many of the original members who made it possible have sadly gone, but a few keep it going.

When you enter the centre you see a selection of exhibitions, cabinets and files about Pershore and general history.

Now all on one floor, the centre has many visitors from all over, including Canada and Australia.

In the visitors’ book comments include “wonderful”, “interesting”, “educational”, “will be back”, “brings back memories”, and “I remember that”.

Yes, most people do like our small heritage centre, but we could do with more volunteers – just a few hours – there is no need to be a historian; there are lots of folders to help with people’s enquiries.

If you are not able to help just make a note of the query and someone will look into it.

We open Wednesday to Saturday, from April to October, also on carnival and plum festival Days. If the soldier is outside we are open.
