IN response to the sad loss of the celebrity Robin Williams, who suffered from depression, I felt it rather apt to write to the Journal on the theme of depression.
Depression affects one in four people at some point in their life.
This figure is based on those who actually seek help and in reality the figure is higher.
Depression can be really debilitating and have a huge impact on the lives of those involved with it.
Depression cannot always be visibly seen and therefore people don't always acknowledge the symptoms.
If you are feeling low and depressed do not ignore it. There is support available.
A problem shared is a problem halved!
Feeling depressed is nothing to be ashamed of. Seek help from your family, friends, GP or Evesham and District Mental Health Support Services (EDMHSS), based at Wallace House in Evesham. Telephone 01386 429454. Email edmhss@btconnect.com.
