HAVING read your article concerning speeding on Bridge Street in Pershore, highlighted by John Andrews (Journal, August 28), I decided to contact you to support both his claims and concerns.

I come into Pershore three times a week via Bridge Street on my scooter.

I am always careful to keep to the speed limits wherever I am – something an awful lot of other road users don't seem to bother with, it seems.

I've lost count of the times I've been overtaken on the high street, which as I travel at 19 or 20mph, clearly shouldn't be happening.

Mr Andrews is right when he says that once past the last pedestrian crossing outside Barclays Bank drivers speed up. It's true, they do. I've witnessed it time and time again.

On one occasion I even had an impatient driver overtake me at Weir Gardens driving round the bollards on the wrong side of the road!

I'm not at all convinced that the average speed is 22mph as claimed.
