CONSIDERING we are already 30 years into a programme of reducing the town centre to a secondary shopping area through the retail developments at Four Pools, Twyford and Worcester Road, isn’t it a bit late for councillors to have concerns about further destruction of the town?

Once the principle of out-of-town shopping has been agreed, surely it is not within the authorities' brief to indulge in selective monitoring of what only amounts to commercial competition.

In other words, if it is right for Poundstretcher, Tesco, Next, Argos, Boots and Marks & Spencer to have stores in Worcester Road, why is it wrong for B & M ?
