I AM in full agreement with Julian Conway (Journal, October 16), the market is a shambles, there is no attempt to keep similar stalls and businesses apart and never has been.
There are stalls selling hot food and drinks right alongside established cafes, the Friday market butcher's van may as well park in the doorway of the established butcher's shop. It is disgraceful.
How many have trading licences and public liability insurance? Who checks them?
It would be a good thing to display their licences on their stalls.
And as for the mayor saying no one has complained, I have complained to him and the town clerk on their walkabout in the market square.
Events to come include the Christmas market, which will no doubt be another dog's dinner of converted sheds forming a plywood alley.
