THE continuing saga of speeding vehicles in Bridge Street, Pershore, and the final decision at the end of an alleged speed survey by the county council (if it was indeed carried out) is no surprise.
I would suggest that the residents should carry out their own survey over any time of the day they choose without the need for specialised equipment.
As any schoolchild will know that speed is a simple mathematical product of the equation: distance divided by time.
All that is needed is a measured distance between two identifiable points, a grandstand view of which would be available to most residents of Bridge Street, and a stopwatch.
The answer in metres per second or feet per second is simply multiplied by either 2.24 or 0.68 respectively to give the speed in miles per hour.
Very basic physics that were in use by the police 80 or more years ago in their 'speed traps'.
