I WONDER whether your correspondent John White was a little premature with his comments on the lights in Evesham (Journal, December 4).
In contrast, I would like to thank the town council and the all others involved for the display of lights this year which are subtle and in the spirit of what Christmas should be; not too showy, but a beautiful display of contrasting styles in the various areas of our town centre.
This year we have the Christmas lights, the Tree of Life by the river, the Christmas Market and the Christmas tree in the High Street, together with the display of the old photographs around the town hall.
All rather well done, I think.
Congratulations to the town council, Shawn Riley of the Market Town Partnership, the Rotary Club and all the shops making an effort this Christmas to make our town centre a welcoming place to visit.
