THIS is not the first time the height of the stage at the Regal, Evesham (Comic Jim cancels gig, February 5), has caused problems.
I attended the recording of Just a Minute for Radio 4 some years ago, and Paul Merton said he suffered from vertigo, and in the first session hardly took part because of this, being visually distressed.
During the interval, they had to put him at a table on the floor with the rest of the panel still up on the stage.
As Nicholas Parsons said, "This is the most bizarre recording we have ever made", with him having to lean over to see Paul on the floor.
Of course, Paul Merton tried to bring vertigo et al into any subject he had to talk on.
