THE current problems in Station Road, Pershore, and the many concerns expressed in the Journal regarding what will most likely happen on this road after 800-900 houses have been built, leads one to ask a question: does the Tories at Wychavon and County Hall have a down on Pershore?

To build this amount of homes without adequate highway infrastructure is absolutely bonkers.

For a start, even without the additional necessary relief roads, Station Road needs widening at the A44 end to cut off the blind corner, an accident waiting to happen if ever there was one.

Also, there needs to be a roundabout on the A44 at this junction.

After all, they built a roundabout for a few glasshouses a little further down the A44, so what have they got against Pershore?

The lack of adequate access and exit for Station Road, plus the likely shambles for traffic, will ultimately make Pershore very unattractive for anyone approaching from the A44.

To avoid the problems shoppers from this direction are likely to face in Station Road then the obvious answer is for them to bypass Pershore for Evesham or Worcester.

Pershore seems to be dying on its feet already with so many empty shops.

It seems the two councils involved do not care.
