I TOTALLY agree with Cllr Julian Palfrey (April 16) about the lack of commitment to Pershore station from First Great Western.

I would also extend these concerns to Network Rail and Worcestershire County Council.

Nothing has ever been done to improve this station or the service.

The developers on Station Road are advertising their development as having a station nearby. But how long will this last?

It seems those involved are more interested in the proposed Parkway station at Norton, near Worcester.

Now, as I understand it when this opens Shrub Hill Station, Worcester, will close, and if this happens then you can bet your life that Pershore will also close. These plans may also affect Evesham.

The development on Station Road has no plan for employment, so everyone living there will have to commute to work.

Just imagine the panic from commuters trying to get out of Station Road, particularly if they need to get to a station.

The Parkway dtation seems nothing more than a cash cow for those involved. There can be no doubt that motorists will be ripped off to park there.

Should Pershore dtation close then it will be a 10-mile trip to this station in the middle of nowhere.

You have to ask what services will there be for people to get there other than by car.

With the likelihood of 1930s spending cuts then bus services will be slashed. Also what taxi services will there be? Expensive to get there and back, I dare say.

So, come on, Network Rail and County Hall, come clean on what the future is for Pershore.

For a town that is likely to almost double in size then Pershore station and the services are just not good enough.
