TODAY (April 30) is 100 years since the birth of my father Fred Archer.
My sister and I and the rest of the family remember him with love and affection. Throughout his life he wrote 26 books about Ashton-under-Hill and the Vale of Evesham which give us all a wonderful record of country life and the characters of the time.
In his book ‘Muddy Boots and Sunday Suits’, he writes about his childhood and the day of his birth at Stanley Farm in an upstairs bedroom overlooking the church.
I would like thank St Barbara’s Church Ashton-under-Hill for having an exhibition to celebrate his life which will be available for viewing on June 13-14, the weekend of the open gardens.
