I AM writing to endorse strongly the letter from Helen Penney of Longborough (April 16).
Not for the first time, I entirely agree with her comments and, as I mentioned at the public meeting in Stow Square, I am totally committed to supporting the wish to relocate the doctor’s surgery to the Gypsy field in Maugersbury.
I was extremely saddened at the decision of the planning committee on April 8 which put the admirable proposal on hold.
This is clearly a decision which flew in the face of local needs and aspirations.
I have long been a strong supporter of what is now called ‘localism’ and it was upsetting to listen to some of my colleagues at Cotswold District Council arguing against the wishes of the local residents.
However, I am sure that a compromise solution can be reached and I for one will be working tirelessly to reach a positive conclusion.
