I WAS rather encouraged to read of Jeremy Paxman’s interview at the Edinburgh Festival, in which he criticised the over employment of women, in the TV industry; going as far as to say that middle class white men shouldn’t bother to apply. A lady executive refuted this, citing Jeremy and Jonathon Ross as two such examples; of course both have been in TV for many years; perhaps a little before political correctness and New Labour, got their claws into our society.
Jeremy Paxman must be right in his observation; for I find myself mumbling ‘yet another young woman, blonde with shoulder length hair,’ to myself everytime I turn on the TV and even when I change channels to try to find an interesting programme: But, do find a different expression.
Yet another example of New Labour’s political correctness over indulged in avoidance of choosing the best; irrespective of gender or race! I would submit that the New Labour and 10 Downing Street another manipulated British Broadcasting Corporation are the best example of political correctness at work.
