You did us proud

THE Jubilee weekend saw Pershore contribute to national celebrations and a tremendous investment in our local community spirit.

Perhaps there were fewer High Street balloons than W L Adamson (Letters, June 14) would have liked because someone has to do the work, and a committed band of town councillors and numerous other community volunteers were busy staging two highly enjoyable Abbey Park concerts and firework displays, plus a carnival much more reminiscent of its former glories.

I was not involved in the work, but my family is certainly impressed and greatly enjoyed the events, as did German visitors we hosted – yes, the town council also organised for guests from our Bavarian twin town to join Pershore’s celebrations.

The weather failed to add its support, but let’s not fail to applaud the hard work of those volunteers.

Thank you. You did our community and our monarch proud!

DAVID HEMMING, Pershore
