A RECORD amount is thought to have been raised from a Cheltenham Festival preview event.

In its tenth year, The Ebrington Arms' Cheltenham Preview event is thought to have raised £5,000 although the amount is not certain yet.

The preview event saw Talksport's Rupert Bell hosting with local racing manager and ex-trainer, Milton Harris and well-known jockey, Paddy Brennan of Willersey also attending.

Mr Brennan is one of the favourites to win this Friday’s Gold Cup.

The money raised will be split between The Injured Jockeys Fund and the Midlands Air Ambulance.

Mr Bell interviewed Mr Brennan about last year's race when he missed out winning the Gold Cup as his horse, Cue Card fell at the third from last fence.

Brand new at this year’s event was an auction, including for VIP box tickets and days out at Stratford and Cheltenham Racecourse and a once in a lifetime trip to St Moritz to the White Turf Race Event.

Most of these prizes were very kindly donated by Mr Harris.
