MILES of countryside around the Vale of Evesham is all set to burst into a colourful sight.

Blossom has begun to show despite recently cold and wet weather, with the hedgerows turning white with the arrival of blackthorn blooms.

The weather has led to the vibrant cherry plum being early this year and already nearly finished, with early plum and pear blossoms just starting to appear around the blossom trail, especially in The Lenches, with the main plum crops expected within the next 10 to 14 days.

Angela Tidmarsh, tourism officer for Wychavon said: “The Blossom Trail is one of our star attractions in the district and provides a wonderful opportunity to get out and explore - whether you’re a resident or a visitor.

"Hopefully we’ll get a little more sun to make it all the more enjoyable.”

A Blossom Trail Bikeaway, sponsored bike ride, is set to take place on Sunday, April 2.

The fundraiser for St John Ambulance and Vale of Evesham First Responders, starts at Raphael's restaurant at Hampton Ferry, with routes of 11, 27 and 50 miles to choose from.
