OVER £300 was raised for Evesham Dogs Trust through a charity beer festival.

To celebrate their second anniversary as Landlords of the Golden Cross in Harvington, Claire Carson, licensee and her partner Ian Lattimer entertained visitors to the pub over three days.

Children played garden games on the lawn in the newly designed garden and many had their faces painted whilst the adults took supped local beers and ciders.

Mr Lattimer said: "Sourcing beers and ciders from within a 50 mile radius brought local micro breweries into the limelight."

"Many putting together unusual combinations of ingredients which we were able to offer through barrelled as well as bottled beers.

"It certainly made tasting from one to another a new experience which our customers loved."

Ms Carson added about the May Day bank holiday weekend: "The whole weekend was a great success. Many of our customers returned day after day.

"They not only tasted the liquid refreshment that was on offer but also enjoyed dishes from our menu including the barbecue on bank holiday Monday and the live music that was performed everyday.

"Events such as this give us an opportunity to give something back to the community and also to national charities through our fundraising.

"In the two years that we have been open through the wonderful generosity of our customers, to date we have raised over £6,000 and we hope that this will continue to grow as we are currently raising funds for Cancer Research UK."

Paddy and Patsy, two dogs rescued from the Evesham Dogs Trust, both had beer's named after them called Paddy's Pint and Patsy's Prime, both of which were available at the festival.

The two dogs were both present on the day.
