PLANS for 150 new houses will be displayed at a public exhibition.

The development is planned for a country park adjacent to Tiddesley Wood on the eastern edge of Pershore.

Worcestershire-based Lioncourt Strategic, the applicant group, have already shown their plans to Pershore Town Council but are seeking comment from the public before a planning application is submitted.

The developer is also suggesting part of its site closest to the Pershore Cemetery is set aside for additional burial grounds.

Lioncourt Strategic claim that the current grounds are full, although the town council says that this is not the case.

Town Clerk Ann Dobbins says that whilst there is limited space in Pershore Cemetery for full burials (5 – 10 years) there is no problem with space for cremated remains.

Additionally the town council has already looked forward and has planning approval for an extension to the cemetery, when needed, in the adjacent field.

The new homes would include new footpaths, providing access to the Pershore Bridges Circular Walk, the Millennium Way and Tiddesley Wood.

The park would include a natural play area and would be open for the whole community to use.

As well as new homes to buy, the development would include 40 per cent affordable, a mixture of homes to rent and shared ownership.

The proposals for the 6.8 hectare site could also include a new timber-framed community building set in the country park grounds.

Lioncourt Strategic land manager, Vicky Bilton said: “This a real opportunity to create a beautiful and sensitive development set in what would feel like a traditional country park.

“With the potential for an oak-framed community building, this could become a special place to be.

“About half the site would be open space, with new footpaths linking to Tiddesley Wood, the Millennium Way and Pershore Bridges Circular Walk, opening up the area for the people of Pershore.”

The exhibition will be held at Pershore Town Hall from 3pm to 8pm on Wednesday July 19.

Everyone is welcome and the developer’s team will answer questions and explain the proposals.
