FRIENDS of a Badsey First School pupil who suffered a life-changing stroke raised more than £700 to help support her daily life.

Students and staff at Badsey First School held an all day dance-a-thon to raise money for Evie Wu, who was rushed to Worcestershire Royal after collapsing during a family outing at West Midlands Safari Park on Monday, June 19.

Youngsters donned sparkly clothing and danced throughout the day from 9.30am to 3.15pm, raising £720 through donations.

Evie is currently recovering at Birmingham Children's Hospital and the school is raising money to help fund any equipment she may require when she goes home.

Acting headteacher Amanda Charnley said: "It was a great day for all the Badsey School community. The children had lots of fun as well as making money for a cause so close to our hearts.

"The children all came to school dressed in their sparkly clothes and the dancing began at 9.30am. It continued throughout the day, non stop until home time at 3.15pm."

While she has been in hospital, Evie's class have also been sending her regular video messages, known as 'Evie time' at the school.

Family friend Neil Double, whose daughter Eloise Ferris is best friends with Evie, set up a Just Giving page to help raise funds to aid the youngster’s recovery.

Various event to raise funds for Evie are being held in the village and donations are being made via the page.
