SCHOOL children have created a time capsule by selecting objects representing their area.

Inspired by the idea of creating their own piece of history, children at The Hamptons, a Bloor Homes site in Evesham, buried various items.

Pupils from St Andrew’s CE School buried items which would inform future generations of what life was like in 2017.

There were a wide variety of objects placed inside the time capsule including photos of the pupils, family trees, a list of prices for a pint of milk, national and local newspapers, fidget spinners and letters.

There were also photographs of The Hamptons development, letters, interesting facts of 2017 and a list of popular slang words.

The time capsule was buried in the centre of The Hamptons development.

Sally Holt, regional sales manager for Bloor Homes Western, said: “Time capsules are an extremely meaningful way for schoolchildren to leave a long-lasting legacy from their time. The pupils were eager to provide future generations with the exciting prospect of unveiling the items left behind.

“We asked the pupils to choose objects which represent Evesham, and their innovative ideas have exceeded our expectations.

“A great deal of effort went into the project and the creativity of the pupils was wonderful. I have no doubt that the findings will be both interesting and informative to future generations.”

Adam Spencer, deputy headteacher at St Andrew’s CE School, said: “This was a wonderful way to celebrate the growth in our community.

“The time capsule was a great project to get our pupils thinking about the local area and to leave something for future generations to come.”
