AN 81-year-old singer will jump out of a plane in tribute to his eldest daughter's battle with cancer.
Eddie Howell, who sings castrato tenor in the Pershore-based Vale Harmony Barbershop Chorus, will be making a tandem skydive from 15,000 feet on Sunday September 17.
Mr Howell, who lives in Pinvin near Pershore, is taking the plunge to raise money in memory of his eldest daughter Cherry, who died last December aged 56.
The proceeds from his sponsored parachute jump will go to St Richard's Hospice and Cancer Research UK.
He said: "St Richard's Hospice helped me after Cherry's death, she'd received wonderful care at home by the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home in Buckinghamshire in the latter stages of her cancer.
"The family have already supported them and now I want to help St Richard's. And Cancer Research UK needs every penny it can get to continue its valuable work in helping prevent and treat cancer.
"I'm really looking forward to the skydive. It'll be a fantastic experience. I'm used to singing high notes but this will definitely be the highest I'll have ever done."
Mr Howell has now retired running a refrigeration and air conditioning business in Worcester for 43 years.
His jump will take place at Wanborough Airfield near Swindon. He's aiming to raise £5,000 for the two charities.
