THE designs for the Evesham Leisure Centre extension have been unveiled, which show how the building may look outside and in.

Since the centre opened in 2009 it has grown in popularity and Wychavon District Council agreed to fund an extension to keep up with local demand.

The new designs include a new activity studio, dance studio, extended fitness suite, extended beauty treatment suites, meeting and consultation rooms, more toilets and changing facilities are all part of the planned development.

The centre is also set to increase parking by around 90 spaces to ensure the extra facilities can be easily accessed.

Cllr. Lynne Duffy, portfolio holder for resources and deputy leader at Wychavon said: “It’s fantastic to see these designs so that we can start to visualise exactly what these new facilities could look like. Extending the centre to keep up with our health conscious residents is great news and we can’t wait to move the process on to the next stage.”

Depending on the outcome of the planning process, work is anticipated to start in spring 2018 and be complete and open for January 2019.

The leisure centre will remain open throughout the construction period and disruption will be kept to a minimum during the works.
