THE annual Evesham Cyclefest was a success again in 2017.

The race taking place in September, saw it return to the town for the fourth year, led by Olympic medallist Chris Boardman.

This year the organisers had decided to support the Alzheimer’s Society and other local groups working with people living with dementia at a younger age and their families.

The Alzheimer’s Society received £800 from the cyclefest.

The society supports a number of initiatives to provide focussed support to those living in Worcestershire and the money raised will support with the running costs of groups, such as room hire, paying for transport and refreshments.

One of the groups that meet is called Connection Point, which runs one evening a month in Ombersley.

Connection Point provides a monthly group meeting for younger people living with dementia, their families and supporters.

The group is run by staff from a wide number of agencies enabling people to feel informed about support available in the local community and funding will help to ensure transport can be paid for, enabling people who have no access to transport to attend the meeting to meet with others in similar situations.
