A NEW festival showcasing the tastes of countries around the world will take place in Evesham this summer.

HMJ Transport and Event Management who have organised the Evesham Truck Show for the past three years, will also organise the new Tastes of the World festival at The Corporation Meadow.

A spokesman for the festival said: "The success and inspiration gained from organising the truck show has prompted the team to want to develop this idea further, leading to the birth of The Tastes of the World event.

"The event team has chosen The Corporation Meadow, Evesham, to host the two day event on the 7th and 8th July.

"The Corporation Meadow is an ideal location as it is situated by the pretty River Avon within walking distance of the town centre making it very accessible to the residents of Evesham and the surrounding areas.

"Our main aim is to provide an exciting event for all ages to enjoy in the middle of the summer.

We are inviting exhibitors to promote food and drink products offering as many different tastes and flavours from around the world.

"Some of our exhibitors will be selling products for you to take away and use in your own homes, for example sauces and marinades, some will be providing samples for you to taste and then to purchase product and others will be cooking delicious foods on our street food stands for you to purchase and enjoy on site.

"We think that vegan and vegetarian foods are also a very important part of life today and therefore we will have a separate part of the site allocated to exhibitors of those foods, drinks, crafts and associated items.

"There will be something for everyone at the event. Therefore we will have a glitter tattoo artist on site and a face painter together with bouncy castles and other inflatables for the younger visitors to enjoy.

"During the daytime we will have music played by our D.J and in the evening the site will be transformed by a selection of music performed live by local bands and groups.

"The event will give our visitors the opportunity of speaking to the exhibitors about their products and gaining knowledge into how they are produced.

"A website is being developed presently which will give full details of the show including the names of the exhibitors attending.

"This will be on line in plenty of time prior to the show in July.

"The names of the performing artists will be updated as they are brought on board.

"It is important to the team that we try to work with as many local businesses and organisations from Evesham and the surrounding areas that we can.

"Once all of the cost from the event have been settled, donations will be made to various local charities. In the past HMJ Transport Limited have donated monies to several worthy causes.

"With support from the exhibitors, local businesses and the residents and visitors to Evesham, we hope to make the first Tastes of the World event a success."
