TWO local bands have won a performance slot at Under The Hill Fest 2018.

Under The Hill Fest 2018 takes place this upcoming May Bank Holiday, with music starting on the evening of Friday May 25 with a full day of music on Saturday May 26.

Festival organisers have already announced their line up, with legendary DJ, A.Skillz, headlining with a 2 hour set of funk, soul, hip-hop and electronic music. Other artists to note are Tankus the Henge, The Undercover Hippy, and Buffo's Wake.

This year, Under The Hill held their first Battle of the Band competition at Amber Bar in Evesham.

Six local artists, from Worcestershire, Herefordshire or Gloucestershire, battled it out to gain a slot on the Under The Hill Fest line up.

After a great night of music, hosted by UK Beatbox Champion, PieMan, two acts were selected to play the festival.

Jeremy Johnson was born just around the corner from the festival site, and will be added to the acoustic set on the Friday night.

Mr Johnson is an emerging, independent British singer-songwriter with a passion for connecting with people and sharing his music live. Jeremy's songs are routed in story-telling and are glimpses from a life less ordinary.

Speaking of the win, he said: I'm thrilled to have been selected to play Under the Hill Festival by winning the battle of the bands competition.

"It was a special night for me as I grew up and went to high school in Evesham, but built my music career outside of the UK, so I had never actually played a gig in the town.

"It almost felt like a homecoming to play at Amber bar and I was really touched to win. The festival will be really special too as I went to Aston Under Hill first school as a kid, just down the road from the festival site.

"The festival will become the first date on my European tour this summer, through the West country, France, Spain and Portugal, and I can't think of a better way to kick it all off.

Liar, Liar will be joining the line-up on Saturday. Liar, Liar are a British indie pop duo from Evesham, composed of twin brothers Benji and Thom Parry, with punchy beats and pop anthem hooks, they're sure to get festival goers on their feet.

In addition the festival held a DJ competition, giving emerging DJs the opportunity to play a set at Under The Hill Fest. Submissions were made via MixCloud and DJ RobWhy? will be performing a 1 hour set.

Expect mashups, remixes, heavy basslines and high energy presence with ghetto funk, electro-swing, breaks, drum & bass, jungle and bassline all part of RobWhy’s audio artillery.
