PLANS to develop The Midcounties Cooperative site on Davies Road, in Evesham, have been rejected following concerns about the development’s proximity to existing homes.
Speaking at a development control committee meeting at Wychavon’s Civic Centre last Thursday ward member, Coun Robert Banks, conceded that development on this site was needed but stressed it should not have any bearing on existing properties.
Addressing the committee he said: “I don’t believe other houses should be detrimentally affected.
“People should be able to enjoy the peace and quiet in their own homes.”
Councillors concluded the development would cause a loss of amenity for local residents, it would have an over-bearing impact on the area and were mindful of an objection by the Environment Agency.
The developer was urged to go back to the drawing board and re-design the plans.
