COMMONWEALTH Games silver medallist, Cameron Brodie, took time out from his training this week to join fellow members of the Evesham Swimming Club to present a sum to the Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Cameron, who is from Scotland originally but has lived in Evesham for eight years, met up with the team on Monday to present £343 to the charity, funds which were raised by competing in the Tewkesbury Fun Run.
He said: “It’s brilliant to come home to see that the Evesham Club are supporting local charities like Acorns.”
Speaking of his hectic training schedule, 18-year-old Cameron said he was now looking forward to London in 2012.
His mum, Mirren, who is chairman of the Evesham Swimming Club, added: “Well done to all the runners who took part in the Tewkesbury half marathon. I am really pleased to see the club support such a worthwhile cause.
“I am obviously very proud of Cameron, I’m just thankful it’s not me who gets up at 5am every morning to train. He is a very dedicated and single-minded young man who is always looking for the next challenge - roll on 2012!”
