AN Evesham trader says a positive outlook has helped her thrive through the recession as she celebrated her store trebling in size.
Sarah Horton runs Gift Horse - a store where people can buy all manner of presents for loved ones - and has moved from a small outlet to a new, much larger premises, opposite her old site, within the Riverside Shopping Centre.
She said: “There is a lot of doom and gloom around at the moment surrounding businesses so it would be easy to get despondent. But we have always been positive that we could do well and this move to a store three times the size of the old one proves that.
“The recession means that people are cutting back on holidays or big purchases like a plasma television, but people always want sweets and to buy presents for their friends and families.
“Our customers in Evesham have been very loyal to us and I thank them so much for that.”
Mrs Horton added that Gift Horse aimed to carry on where Woolworths had left off by providing a wide range of pick and mix sweets. The store also sells items such as toys, crockery, angling equipment, luggage and jewellery.
