LONG-serving Vale of Evesham GP Dr Chris Milner has retired.
Dr Milner joined the then Savery practice in Evesham High Street as a young GP in 1968 and has served the community for 43 years, becoming wellknown as a forthright, caring and devoted GP.
“Such was his appeal to the patients that he often appeared to have the longest waiting list at surgery times and many people in the district will miss such a devoted north country character who would help with their aches and pains,” said James Powell, a friend.
The practice moved from High Street to purpose-built premises in Merstow Green, since when as it grew it divided and a new health centre built on the same site, Dr Milner continuing with the Merstow Green practice.
From an early age Dr Milner became an avid Francophile and is renowned as an expert on quality wines from France. A product of Durham Public School and Newcastle University, he has always been a keen sportsman particularly involved with cricket and is a life member of Worcestershire County Cricket Club. Over the years, and which he intends to continue in retirement, he has spent many hours on his racing cycle and has achieved many of the major hill climbs which are part of the Tour de France race.
“He will be sorely missed by many devoted followers as an outstanding local doctor of the old school,” Mr Powell said.
