Evesham man charged after police operation
AN EVESHAM man has been charged with burglary and remanded in custody following a police operation.
Joseph Colin Smith, aged 40, of Meadows End, Hampton was arrested during Operation Largo, which took place on Thursday (15).
He was charged with burglary in relation to a break-in in Egdon Lane, Egdon, near Pershore, on the morning of Tuesday, March 13 where several pieces of jewellery were stolen.
He was charged on Friday evening and appeared at Worcester Magistrates' Court on Saturday morning where he was remanded in custody.
Operation Largo was a major operation that saw nine people arrested.
More than 60 officers executed warrants at 16 addresses in Worcester and Evesham as part of the operation, which primarily targeted burglars and those involved in the supply of class A drugs.
It supports the recent Love Your Home campaign, which was launched last month and aims to provide practical security advice to residents to help them beat the burglars.
