A TWIRLING team from Orpington has been loaded with trophies after competing at the British championships.
Silver Stars Twirling Team, which practises at the Midfield Primary School, in Grovelands Road, St Paul's Cray, won the military class, march, twirl and dance sections.
The British Championships for Baton Twirling were held at Wavney Sports and Leisure Centre, in Great Yarmouth, where the team also won the junior pom pom section.
Although the competition lasted two days, the 20-strong-team spent a further seven days in Great Yarmouth training with international teachers from Belgium, Holland and France.
Team coach Sylvia Haine, 37, said: “A lot of the children took the floor in a championship for the first time, and in 2003 we want to compete in the European championships.”
