PERSHORE Rotary Club has bid farewell to its former president and welcomed a new face for the next 12 months.

Judith Gath finished her year in charge and handed over her chain to successor Alan Fulton.

She said: “It has been a really brilliant year. At the start I said I wanted the club to be at the heart of the community. The installation of the defibrillator in Chapman Court has certainly contributed towards this.

“I also wanted our theme to be: We are better together.

We certainly have all worked hard together, and with our colleagues in Inner Wheel, which has helped raise our spirits and nearly £11,000 for charity.”

Mr Fulton said he was looking forward to building on the club’s success.

He said: “I am sure all members will agree with me that we have had an excellent year. It’s been a real pleasure to belong to the club.

“We are doing some very good things that I hope we can continue and build on.

The two main charities I would like the club to support this year are the Pershore Riverside Youth Centre and Acorns Children’s Hospice.”
