A FOOTBALL loving businessman has put his money where his passion is and invested in his club.

Pershore Town Football Club has announced it will be receiving sponsorship for its stadium from Winstanley & Co, a fabrication specialist, and the ground will now be known as Winstanley & Co King George V Stadium.

Rod Smith, managing director, said he was delighted to partner the club.

He said: “Winstanley has a strong belief in close ties with the local community and recognises the business’s social responsibility in supporting local efforts which will benefit the town as a whole in the long term.”

Tim Webb, interim vicechairman of the club, said the support they had received was “kind and generous”.

“They recognise what the club is trying to achieve for the community,” he said.

“Providing football for 14 junior teams, including two girls teams, the club is providing sport and recreational facilities for a significant number of children in the area, in addition to the club’s first team.

“At a time when the economy is challenging, it is commendable that Winstanley & Co recognise the needs of the community and are very keen and willing to add support.”
