THE founder of Pershore and District Royal Naval Association has been honoured at a ceremony to celebrate the branch’s 10th anniversary.

Members met on Sunday to the sounds of bugler Alice Bull, a pupil at Pershore High School, for a wartime singalong and to celebrate the milestone.

The service was led by branch chaplain Canon Richard Etheridge.

Afterwards national RNA chairman Chris Dovey presented Ted Annis, who started the branch and has chaired it for the last 10 years, with a lifetime membership of the RNA.

His wife Margaret also got a certificate for her hard work and support.

Mr Annis said: “Margaret and I are so touched. It’s all I can do not to cry. We take supporting our troops, Remembrance and the British Legion’s Poppy Appeal very seriously but we also like to have fun which is what makes our branch so successful. We have raised £70,000 over the last 10 years for local charities and we are proud of what we have achieved.”
