A BREAST cancer charity will receive the support of a Kidderminster supermarket this year after it was named as the store's chosen cause.
Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer, a group of local volunteers who raise money for lifesaving equipment, will benefit from the efforts of the town’s Sainsbury’s branch.
The charity was set up 14 years ago and has so far donated equipment worth more than £1 million, which the NHS is unable to fund, to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
Customers of Sainsbury’s had a say in what this year’s chosen charity would be, by voting online and in store.
Helen Bower, Sainsbury’s PR ambassador, said: “We’ve had a great response from our customers and we’re delighted to have chosen a charity which many of our customers and colleagues can relate to.
“We will now be working closely with the charity over the next 12 months to ensure they really benefit from the local charity partnership.”
Last year, the Kidderminster store raised £14,000 for its charity partner Severn Area Rescue Association, which enabled members to train more volunteers and help buy equipment for the lifesaving river rescue team.
